The  Art

exploring

of

the Self

lighthearted Productions aspires to facilitate the telling of stories by exploring the human condition through puppet-making and puppetry.

It aims to get involved in thoughtful and compassionate enquiry into life in order to find voice and agency and to evoke deeper understanding of the self.

In a culture where puppetry has been designated to the realms of childrens entertainment, Lighthearted

Productions endeavours to investigate the potential of this powerful medium to unlock doors within the conscious and act as a conductor for difficult emotions.

 Music Video  - Athens, 2025

In Athens in February, 2025, I was approached by KIPOI, a Greek funk band to collaborate on a music video using The Ringmaster, one of my puppets,

This is the finished reel.

EXPERIMENTAL PUPPETRY • CREATIVE EXPRESSION • REIMAGINING THE PUPPET •

Puppetry opens a safe space to ask challenging questions and discuss societal issues without real-world repercussions.

At the very least it can capture an audience, hold their attention and provide entertainment. Much more than that, it can be used as a tool to explore and navigate difficult experiences giving voice to uncomfortable emotions.

Puppetry for adults and adolescents excels at addressing sensitive subjects as it acts as a 'disarming agent'. By transferring heavy topics to inanimate objects, it creates a safe, psychological distance.  Abstract or invisible concepts can be physically personified, creating a tangible way to understand human struggles.
